Diaspora


[n] A historical dispersion of a group of people deriving from similar origins, i.e. the African Diaspora includes African British, African Americans, Africans, Caribbeans, African-Russians, African Brazilians, African Asians etc...



disadvantaged

[adj] 1. A historically oppressed group having less than sufficient resources to fund all of basic needs; without expendable income. 2. A group charactersed by disproportionate economic, social, and political disadvantages.


discrimination

[n] A biased decision based on a prejudice against an individual group characterised by race, gender, class, etc . . .


drug mules

An offensive label commonly used to dehumanise the plight of women who act as drug couriers


Developing Nations

A replacement term for "Third World Countires" used to refer to "non-westernised" countries. Often seen as prejudicial since there is an implicit comparison with "developed" countries.


Dual heritage

[n] Formal label for a person with parents of differing racial identities.

Synonyms: Afripean, Mixed Heritage, Mixed Race
