About the role
Diversity was a key theme which contributed towards London winning its bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The area surrounding the Olympic Park within East London is one of the most diverse areas in the country.

The Olympic Delivery Authority is responsible for delivering the venues, infrastructure and transport associated with the Games. The Equality & Diversity Manager is a key post within the ODA’s Human Resources & Organisation Development team. The post holder will be responsible for the ODA’s Equality and Diversity Strategy and will ensure that the ODA fulfils its public sector equality responsibilities, including Equalities Impact Assessments, and publishing and monitoring Race, Gender and Disability Equality Schemes. The post holder will also provide expert advice internally within the ODA on diversity issues, and will assist in managing key stakeholder relationships on equality and diversity.

The Equality & Diversity Manager will work closely with colleagues across the ODA, and its delivery partner, CLM, to coordinate equality and diversity issues internally. The post holder will also need to work closely with key individuals within the ODA’s programme, projects, and functional areas, in close liaison with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, Government and other key stakeholders, to deliver the Equality and Diversity Strategy of the ODA throughout the supply chain. The ODA has appointed a delivery partner, CLM, which will be responsible for managing much of the day-to-day delivery of the ODA’s Equality and Diversity Strategy into the supply chain; the ODA’s Equality & Diversity Manager will play an important client-side role in championing and monitoring the delivery of the strategy.

You will have a track record of translating complex equality and diversity strategy and objectives into key deliverables. You will be able to operate within a highly political environment, and be able to manage complex relationships, projects, and work with others to achieve outcomes within programme and budget.

Purpose of Job
To manage the day-to-day delivery of the ODA’s equality and diversity agenda.

Roles and Responsibilities
To manage the day-to-day development and delivery of the Equality and Diversity Strategy

To support the Chief Executive, Board-level champion, Directors and Heads of Function on equality and diversity issues, and to ensure that the Equality and Diversity Board runs effectively

To provide expert advice to ODA procurement, project teams and other functional areas on diversity and equality issues

To develop and monitor delivery of the ODA's Race Equality Scheme, Gender Equality Scheme, and Disability Equality Scheme

To ensure that Equalities Impact Assessments are carried out for all major ODA projects, and to assist Project Sponsors in this regard

To manage the day to day relationship with ODA's Delivery Partner on equality and diversity issues throughout the supply chain, and to act as client-side project sponsor

To manage specific projects aimed at furthering the equality and diversity objectives of the Authority

To build close and effective working relationships with the ODA’s Communications, Procurement, and Sustainable Development teams, the London Organising Committee, London Boroughs, the London Development Agency, the Greater London Authority and CLM to enable delivery of the ODA's Equality and Diversity Strategy.

To liaise closely with External Relations colleagues to manage stakeholder relations relating to the ODA’s equality and diversity agenda

To run meetings, draft and present reports on equality and diversity issues

To monitor and analyse data on equality and diversity issues
