The
Ligali motif is inspired by both the ancient Nigerian Nsibiri
sign for human relationship and communication, and four of
the seven Kawanzaa principles Umoja (Unity), Nia
(Purpose), Ujima (Responsibility) and Imani
(Faith)
We believe that identifying and reclaiming our original identity
is an integral part of promoting the emotional, spiritual
and mental progression of the African community in Western
society. |

| African British
is the name now used to describe the community previously mislabelled as
Afro-Caribbean, Black British, UK Black, Negro, Nigger, Coloured and Black.
It embraces all British nationals with antecedents originating directly
from Africa or indirectly via African diasporic communities, such as those in the Caribbean and South America.
Ligali is a politically active Pan-African organisation that campaigns against racism, poverty,
socio-economic inequality and challenges racists and anti African media that denigrates African history,
culture or heritage. |
