BNP secure another racist conviction for its members

Darren Lumb, the British National Party (BNP) organiser for Wakefield, was convicted at Pontefract Magistrates’ Court after he used racist abuse at a petrol station in a dispute over the price of diesel.

The Hope Not Hate website reports that “Lumb had already been banned from the petrol station in March 2011 following a similar argument with staff; however he returned on St George’s day in May and following his racist outburst staff demanded he left and called the police who later arrested him for the offence.

Lumb who was flanked by a dozen BNP members and supporters at court pleaded not guilty, claiming that he had never visited the garage and that he was at a BNP St George’s Day event”

In what some see as a badge of merit, Lumb a senior member of the BNP political party and a council candidate was found guilty of using racially aggravated threatening or insulting words and behaviour. He had referred to the petrol station worker as “a black b**tard”.
